As of 2022 we have gained permission from the railroad to be able to finally be dog-friendly for a limited number of animals on a limited number of trips, this came with a lot of restrictions that we (JBR and you, the dog owner) must comply with.

We offer up to two (2) Add On Dog Crates per Mountains Edge and Valley Sights trips. We must use our crates as they have been modified to attach to our Railriders and provide a safe and enjoyable ride for your dog.

Only one crate can be added onto a Tandem Car, this cannot be added to a Quad Car.  We cannot attach a crate and an Add On Child Seat to a Car at the same time as they both use the same connection points.

Dogs are NOT allowed to sit or stand on the seats or ride on board the Railrider anywhere except while inside the locked crate. The crate is built to accompany dogs ranging from x-small to Large not exceeding 70 lbs / 32 kg. Limit of two (2) dogs per crate if the maximum weight is not exceeded. Your dog will need to be removed from the crate at the midpoint during the turnaround process. For the comfort and safety of your dog the crate has a waterproof padded bottom, a sunshade, and multiple locking clips on the access doors. Your dog will be even more comfortable if you bring along your own dog bed that can fit in a 2 foot by 3 foot crate.

You must be able to safely get your dog into and out of the ride crate which will be mounted on the back of the Railrider roughly three (3) feet above the ground, we will not assist with lifting.

We want you, your furry family member, and all guests on our trips to have a great time and do so in a safe manner.

If you wish to bring your dog on a Railriding trip, the following policies and restrictions must always be adhered to.

Health

To protect our guests, maintain cleanliness, and ensure the enjoyment of all, dogs are required to be in good health, free of pests, and be current on their shots. By signing below, you, the dog’s owner, certifies the dog is properly vaccinated and is physically sound to be on the trip. Keep in mind we are going to be traveling down old rails and across graveled road crossings, so it can be a bumpy ride, which may be difficult or uncomfortable for easily startled, old or arthritic dogs.

Socialization / Behavior

All dogs on JBR trips are required to be socialized, friendly, and non-aggressive toward our Crew, other guests, and other dogs. This includes not barking excessively. If you arrive for your trip and your dog does not meet this standard (as determined by JBR Crew) your dog will not be allowed on the trip. And, if this occurs, there will be NO REFUNDS of any payments for either the dog or the guest(s) if they choose to not ride on the trip. If your dog causes a disturbance during the trip that another guest complains about you may be charged for the cost of that other guests Car ticket if we must compensate that guest for a poor experience as a result of the behavior of your dog. This will be at the discretion of JBR Crew.
